Step-by-step guide

Welcome to the PI – Commerce™ User Manual. This guide provides a comprehensive, step-by-step process for setting up and automating product pages using our software. Follow these steps to streamline your e-commerce operations and ensure a smooth integration with Shopify.

Step 1: create profile

Formatting the XLS file

Ensure data consistency

  • Remove all formulas from the Excel file
  • Make sure there are no frozen cells
  • Remove any filters applied to the data
  • Make sure header names are relevant 
  • Avoid header names with numbers

Drag and drop

To import data simply select the file you want to import.

Preview data

Verify sheet names

Make sure the sheet name matches your excel workbook

Check headers

Ensure the starting row contains the sheet headers.

Preview products

Count and verify the preview of the products

Name the profile (e.g., “Product sample”)

If the profile already exists, select it

Step 2: create category

Prepare Excel data for import

Copy headers

  • Select and copy all headers from the data sheet

Set up categories

In a new sheet, name the first header “category” and the second “value”.

Paste the copied headers under “value” using Paste Special

Check and select transpose

Add catgories

Add the relevant categories for your products.

Select profile

Select the profile you want to modify.

Import Excel File

Import the mapped excel file

Match categories

Use the dropdown menu to ensure selections match “category” and “value”

The import button will activate if there is a match

Assign positions

Imported categories will be assigned positions automatically

Rename values

Rename values as necessary

Preview

Click “Next” to preview the HTML

Step 3: HTML generator

HTML preview

Data integration

  • Either use data from the uploaded Excel file or manually enter the data to build the product description 

Customize template

Change template colors and adjust the Value width (default is 70%)

Upload template

Click “Upload template” when changes are done

Click “Next” and check that Finish and Description are included in the HTML Generator step

s_card_html is added automatically along with Finish and Description

Preview product data

Review the product data, noting that the “h1” tag might not be previewable

Click on "Create" and wait for the success message

Click next to finish

Map data

  • Map your data to match Shopify fields

Proceed

Click "Next" after receiving a successful mapping message

Step 5: upload to Shopify

Select values

  • Highlighted green default values indicate required fields

  • Select if your products should be published to your store or not and choose their status

Image Selection

Choose the number of images to include per profile

Add changes

Click "Add changes" to confirm

Note "No inventory added" if you skip this step

Final Preview

Review the current settings for all profile items

Testing

Test one product to ensure it appears on your "products" page, or create all at once

Troubleshooting

Data Import Issues

  • Ensure Excel file is formatted correctly

  • Verify there are no hidden rows or columns

Profile creation errors

  • Make sure profile names are unique

  • Check that all mandatory fields are filled out

Category Matching Problems

Confirm that category names in the Excel sheet match the profile
